Mission

Wave, created by students for students, streamlines the job search process by addressing common pain points such as confusing UI and scattered information across multiple sites. Our mission is to make job hunting more efficient and user-friendly.

Services We Provide

An agile interface for browsing jobs that can adapt to diverse student needs

Wave provides a modern interface with versatile tools to meet evolving student requirements. Our platform allows students to create and customize multiple shortlists, categorizing job postings efficiently. Unlike other Chrome extensions, Wave incorporates a client-side web scraper for enhanced functionality, like improved search capabilities. Our scrapers securely store job posting information locally, ensuring privacy by avoiding interaction with our servers.

A student community for sharing information

Wave's review system democratizes typically private insights, like firsthand experiences working or interviewing with a company, making them accessible to all students.

Misinformation or disrespectful speech is not condoned on our platform and users have the ability to report such reviews.

Copyright

Wave is intended to be used as a tool for private study and operate under Fair Dealing of the Copyright Act. Users that scrape jobs are expected to follow the terms and conditions set by the origin of the job postings. For example, students used to scrape information from WaterlooWorks are expected to comply with any standards set by the University of Waterloo. Our team simply provides the software and are not responsible or liable for copyright infringement of the job information.

Data

Wave does not store any scraped job information on our servers. The software we provide to scrape jobs from job boards only communicates with the JavaScript running on the website - it does not interact with our database. As such public users cannot access jobs from private domains, such as WaterlooWorks, via our platform.
